Description

Delicious baked honey Dijon mustard chicken thighs featuring a perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors. This simple yet flavorful recipe is easy to prepare and results in juicy, tender chicken with a beautifully caramelized glaze.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 bone-in chicken thighs (1.5 lbs)

Glaze

  • 1/3 cup pure honey
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Chicken: Place the chicken thighs skin-side up in the prepared baking dish. Season them generously with salt and pepper to enhance the natural flavors of the meat.
  3. Make the Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, low-sodium soy sauce, olive oil, and paprika until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Apply Initial Glaze: Pour half of the prepared glaze evenly over the chicken thighs, fully coating the skin to promote caramelization during baking.
  5. Bake the Chicken: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake the chicken for 35-40 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), a safe temperature for poultry. Halfway through baking, drizzle the remaining glaze over the chicken to build layers of flavor and moisture.
  6. Serve: Once cooked through and nicely browned, remove the chicken from the oven. Serve hot, drizzling any remaining glaze from the pan over the chicken for extra moisture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs for the best flavor and moisture.
  • Make sure to reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
  • Leftover glaze can be reheated and used as a sauce.
  • Pair this chicken with steamed vegetables or rice for a complete meal.
  • Adjust seasoning and honey quantity to taste if you prefer more or less sweetness.
