Ingredients
Scale
Overnight Oats Base
- 1/2 mashed ripe banana
- 1/2 cup rolled oats (regular or gluten free)
- 1/2 cup milk of choice
- 2 tbsp chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Dash of sea salt
- 1 tbsp ground flax (optional)
- 2 tsp 100% pure maple syrup
Instructions
- Mix Ingredients: Mash the banana in the bottom of a bowl or jar that can be sealed. Add the rolled oats, milk of choice, chopped nuts, vanilla extract, cinnamon, sea salt, ground flaxseed (if using), and maple syrup. Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Refrigerate: Seal the jar or bowl with a lid and place it in the refrigerator. Allow the mixture to soak overnight or for at least 4 hours. This resting time softens the oats and allows the flavors to meld together beautifully.
- Serve and Garnish: After soaking, give the oats a good stir. Serve either cold straight from the fridge or warm them briefly if you prefer. Garnish with additional sliced banana or more chopped nuts for added texture and flavor.
Notes
- Use gluten-free rolled oats to make this recipe gluten-free.
- Milk of choice can be dairy or plant-based such as almond, oat, or soy milk.
- Ground flax adds extra fiber and omega-3 fatty acids but can be omitted if preferred.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup according to taste.
- This recipe is great for meal prep as it stores well for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
