Ingredients
Scale
Bakery
- 4 large croissants, broken into small pieces (use already baked croissants, not dough)
Fruits
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
- ½ cup blueberries
- ½ cup raspberries
Dairy
- 1 block (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup milk
Baking & Sweeteners
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Eggs
- 2 large eggs
Other
- Cooking spray for greasing the baking dish
- Optional: powdered sugar and syrup for serving
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly spray a 9 x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Layer Croissants and Berries: Evenly spread the broken croissant pieces across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Top them evenly with the sliced strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, making sure the berries are well distributed.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until it becomes fluffy. Gradually add the granulated sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract while continuing to mix until the batter is smooth and fully combined.
- Combine and Chill: Pour the cream cheese mixture evenly over the croissants and berries in the baking dish. Cover the dish with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes or up to 14 hours to allow the croissants to absorb the custard.
- Bake the Casserole: Remove the cover and bake the dish in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set when you gently shake the pan.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve the Berry Croissant Bake warm. Optionally, sprinkle with powdered sugar and drizzle with syrup to enhance sweetness. Enjoy this comforting, fruity breakfast treat!
Notes
- Make sure to use fully baked croissants, not raw croissant dough, for the best texture and flavor.
- You can prepare the dish the night before and refrigerate it overnight for convenience.
- Feel free to substitute or add other berries or fruits like blackberries or sliced peaches based on your preference.
- This bake can be enjoyed as-is or paired with a drizzle of maple syrup or a dusting of powdered sugar for extra sweetness.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and gently reheated in the oven or microwave.
