Description

These Chili Lime Shrimp Wraps are a quick, fresh, and flavorful meal perfect for a light lunch or dinner. Succulent shrimp are marinated in a zesty blend of lime, smoked paprika, and cumin, then quickly seared to perfection before being wrapped in crisp romaine or butter lettuce leaves with creamy avocado, fresh cilantro, and spicy red chili slices. Ready in just 21 minutes, this gluten-free and low-carb recipe is both healthy and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp Marinade

  • 1 1/2 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • Zest of 2 fresh limes
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Wrap Ingredients

  • 8 romaine or butter lettuce leaves
  • 1 large avocado, sliced
  • 1 handful fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1 red chili, thinly sliced
  • Juice of 2 fresh limes
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: Peel and devein the shrimp if needed. In a bowl, combine the shrimp with avocado oil, smoked paprika, ground cumin, minced garlic, lime zest, and freshly ground black pepper. Toss everything thoroughly to coat the shrimp evenly with the marinade.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque, indicating they are fully cooked. Remove from heat.
  3. Prepare the Lettuce Leaves: While the shrimp cooks, wash and dry the lettuce leaves carefully to keep them crisp. Set them aside, ready for assembling the wraps.
  4. Assemble the Wraps: Spoon the cooked shrimp evenly into each lettuce leaf. Top the shrimp with slices of avocado, fresh cilantro leaves, and thin slices of red chili for a kick of heat.
  5. Finish and Serve: Drizzle fresh lime juice over each assembled wrap, season with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to your preference, and serve immediately for the best fresh flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add more red chili or a pinch of chili flakes.
  • You can substitute butter lettuce for romaine for a softer wrap.
  • To keep the wraps crisp, assemble just before serving.
  • Great served with a side of black beans or a light salad for a complete meal.
  • Leftover shrimp can be stored refrigerated for up to 1 day but is best enjoyed fresh.
