Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Soup Base
- 1.5–2 lb chicken breasts
- 2 (10.5 oz) cans cream of chicken soup
- ½ stick butter, cut into pats
- 3.5 cups chicken broth
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp chicken bouillon
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Noodles and Garnish
- 12 oz egg noodles
- 2–4 tbsp dried parsley
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the crockpot and season evenly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and chicken bouillon to infuse flavor into the meat.
- Add Soup Layers: Spread both cans of cream of chicken soup evenly over the chicken breasts to create a creamy base for the dish.
- Add Butter and Broth: Dot the butter pats on top of the soup-covered chicken, then pour in the chicken broth to provide moisture and help cook the noodles later.
- Slow Cook the Chicken: Cover the crockpot and cook on high for 3 to 4 hours until the chicken is tender and easily shreddable.
- Shred the Chicken: Using two forks, shred the cooked chicken directly in the crockpot to distribute the meat throughout the sauce.
- Add Egg Noodles: Add the egg noodles to the crockpot, pressing them down so they are fully submerged in the liquid to ensure even cooking.
- Cook Noodles: Cover again and continue cooking for 20 to 30 minutes until the egg noodles are softened and tender.
- Final Seasoning and Garnish: Stir in dried parsley for freshness, adjust salt and pepper seasoning if needed, then serve the dish warm for a comforting meal.
Notes
- For richer flavor, use homemade chicken broth instead of store-bought.
- You can substitute dried parsley with fresh parsley for a brighter taste.
- If you prefer thicker noodles, cook them separately and add them just before serving.
- Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently before serving.
