Ingredients
Scale
Shrimp and Seasoning
- 1 pound of shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Garlic Sauce
- 5 cloves of fresh garlic (minced)
- 4 tablespoons of butter (divided)
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese (grated)
- 2 tablespoons of fresh parsley (chopped)
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry thoroughly using a paper towel. Season the shrimp generously with salt and pepper to enhance their natural flavor.
- Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until it becomes fragrant and slightly golden, about 2 minutes, being careful not to burn it.
- Cook Shrimp: Increase the heat to medium-high and place the seasoned shrimp in the skillet. Cook each side for 2-3 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and opaque, indicating they are fully cooked. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside to prevent overcooking.
- Make Creamy Sauce: Lower the skillet heat and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer while stirring continuously. Allow the cream to thicken slightly, which takes a few minutes.
- Add Cheese and Herbs: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley into the thickened cream sauce. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed for a balanced flavor.
- Combine and Serve: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss gently to coat them well with the creamy garlic sauce. Remove from heat, garnish with additional parsley if desired, and serve immediately while hot for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- For extra spice, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic.
- Serve over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for best melting and flavor.
- Do not overcook shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
- Fresh parsley adds brightness, but you can substitute with basil or cilantro if preferred.
