This classic burger recipe combines rich umami flavors with a tender, cheesy finish, perfect for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Burger Patties
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
For the Mushroom Topping
- 8 oz baby bella mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp umami sauce
Other Ingredients
- 4 Swiss cheese slices
- 4 brioche buns
- Fresh lettuce leaves
- Fresh tomato slices
Instructions
- Form the Patties: Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape each into a patty. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper. Make sure the patties are evenly formed for consistent cooking. Slice the baby bella mushrooms while preparing the patties.
- Sauté the Mushrooms: Heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they begin to release moisture. Stir in the minced garlic and umami sauce, cooking until the mushrooms are caramelized and softened, enhancing their flavor.
- Cook the Burgers: Heat a skillet or grill to medium-high. Place the patties and cook for about 4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for another 4 minutes, adding a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each patty during the last minute to melt perfectly.
- Assemble the Burgers: Toast the brioche buns lightly until golden. On the bottom half of each bun, layer fresh lettuce leaves, the cooked burger patty with melted cheese, a generous spoonful of the sautéed mushrooms, and fresh tomato slices. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
Notes
- For best results, use ground beef labeled 80/20 for optimal juiciness.
- Umami sauce enhances the savory flavor but can be substituted with soy sauce if unavailable.
- To avoid soggy buns, toast them just before assembling the burgers.
- If preferred, add condiments such as mayonnaise or mustard for extra flavor.
- Feel free to substitute Swiss cheese with provolone or mozzarella for a different cheese profile.
