Ingredients
Scale
Cauliflower Bites
- 1 medium head of cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil spray or 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Wash and Cut Cauliflower: Wash the cauliflower under cold water thoroughly to remove any dirt or impurities, then cut it into bite-sized florets about 1 to 1.5 inches in size to ensure even cooking.
- Prepare Egg Wash: In a separate bowl, whisk the two large eggs until well combined, which will help the coating stick to the cauliflower.
- Mix Coating Ingredients: In another bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper, mixing until evenly distributed to create a flavorful crust.
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to prepare for baking the bites.
- Coat Cauliflower: Dip each cauliflower floret into the whisked eggs, letting any excess drip off, then transfer them to the parmesan and breadcrumb mixture and toss until each piece is well coated.
- Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the coated florets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are spaced evenly to promote crispiness.
- Add Olive Oil: Drizzle olive oil over the coated cauliflower or lightly spray them with olive oil spray to help them brown and crisp up in the oven.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping the bites halfway through the cooking time to ensure they brown evenly on all sides.
- Monitor Crispness: Keep an eye on them during the last few minutes; remove them from the oven once they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Cool and Garnish: Allow the bites to cool on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes, then transfer to a serving platter and garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired.
- Serve: Serve warm with marinara sauce or creamy ranch dip for extra flavor and enjoyment.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, use panko breadcrumbs as suggested.
- You can substitute Parmesan with Pecorino Romano for a sharper flavor.
- Adjust seasoning according to your taste preferences.
- Cauliflower bites reheat well in an air fryer or oven.
- Serve immediately for best texture; they tend to soften if left out too long.
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
