Description

This Savory Gluten Free Ground Turkey Meatloaf is a delicious, healthy twist on the classic comfort food, perfect for those avoiding gluten. Made with lean ground turkey and seasoned with a blend of herbs and spices, it’s moist, flavorful, and quick to prepare, making it an ideal weeknight dinner option for families or meal prep.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 egg (room temperature, about 70°F)
  • 3/4 cup Ian’s Gluten Free Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup onion (finely diced into 1/4-inch pieces)
  • 1.5 tsp garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp steak sauce (Lea & Perrins recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready when your meatloaf mixture is combined. Lightly grease or line a loaf pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, egg, gluten free panko breadcrumbs, finely diced onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, black pepper, salt, smoked paprika, and milk. Mix gently but thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated without overworking the meat.
  3. Shape the Meatloaf: Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and press it down evenly to form a compact loaf shape.
  4. Add Topping: In a small bowl, mix together 2 tablespoons of ketchup and 2 tablespoons of steak sauce. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf to create a flavorful glaze.
  5. Bake: Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 50 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the top is nicely browned and set.
  6. Rest and Serve: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain juices and makes slicing easier. Serve warm with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Make sure the egg is at room temperature to help bind the meatloaf better.
  • Using gluten-free panko breadcrumbs helps keep the meatloaf tender while making it safe for gluten-sensitive diets.
  • The ketchup and steak sauce glaze adds both moisture and a tangy, savory flavor to the meatloaf.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
  • Internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C) to ensure the turkey is fully cooked.
