Description

Shrimp Crab Melts are a delightful and easy-to-make comfort snack featuring flaky biscuit dough filled with a creamy mixture of cooked shrimp, lump crab meat, mozzarella, and cream cheese, seasoned with Old Bay and fresh parsley. Baked until golden and puffed, these melts are perfect as appetizers or a satisfying snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Biscuit Base

  • 8 refrigerated flaky biscuits
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)

Filling

  • 1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped
  • 1 cup lump crab meat
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures the biscuits bake evenly and puff up nicely for a flaky texture.
  2. Prepare Biscuit Bases: On a baking sheet, flatten each refrigerated flaky biscuit slightly to create a larger surface area and a thinner base for the filling.
  3. Make Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped cooked shrimp, lump crab meat, shredded mozzarella cheese, softened cream cheese, Old Bay seasoning, and chopped fresh parsley. Mix well until fully combined.
  4. Assemble Melts: Spoon the creamy seafood mixture onto half of the flattened biscuits. Cover each with a second biscuit and press the edges together firmly to seal in the filling.
  5. Brush with Butter and Bake: Brush the tops of the assembled melts with melted butter for a golden finish. Bake in the preheated oven for 13–15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  6. Rest and Serve: Let the melts rest for about 2 minutes after baking to allow the filling to set. Serve warm, whole or sliced in half, as a delicious snack or appetizer.

Notes

  • You can substitute the seafood filling with cooked chicken or vegetables for a different variation.
  • For extra crispiness, brush the bottoms of the biscuits with melted butter as well before baking.
  • Serve with a side of tartar sauce or cocktail sauce for added flavor.
  • If refrigerated seafood is not available, fully cook fresh shrimp and crab meat before use.
  • Ensure cream cheese is softened for easier mixing with other filling ingredients.
