Description

Smoked Salmon Pinwheels are elegant, easy-to-make appetizers perfect for brunch, parties, or snacks. Soft flour tortillas are spread with a creamy dill-flavored cheese mixture, layered with smoked salmon, fresh greens, and optional red onion, then rolled tightly and chilled to create bite-sized, flavorful pinwheels.

Ingredients

Scale

Wraps and Filling

  • 4 large flour tortillas or spinach wraps
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 ounces smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup baby spinach or arugula
  • 1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cream cheese mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with fresh or dried dill, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  2. Spread the mixture on tortillas: Lay one tortilla flat on a clean surface. Evenly spread a quarter of the cream cheese mixture over the entire surface of the tortilla, creating a smooth layer.
  3. Add the fillings: Lay smoked salmon slices over the cream cheese layer. Top with baby spinach or arugula and add a few thin slices of red onion if desired.
  4. Roll the tortillas: Carefully and tightly roll up the tortilla from one end to the other, keeping the filling snug inside to prevent it from falling out.
  5. Repeat for all wraps: Repeat steps 2 through 4 with the remaining tortillas and filling ingredients.
  6. Chill to set: Wrap each rolled tortilla tightly in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up and make slicing easier.
  7. Slice and serve: Remove the rolls from the fridge and unwrap. Using a sharp knife, slice each roll into 1-inch thick pinwheels. Arrange the pinwheels on a serving platter and garnish with extra dill or lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

  • These pinwheels are ideal for appetizers, brunches, or make-ahead snacks.
  • For extra flavor, try using flavored cream cheese such as herb or chive varieties.
  • Whole wheat or gluten-free wraps can be used as a substitute for flour tortillas.
  • Keep pinwheels refrigerated until serving to maintain freshness.
