Description

This Spicy Sriracha Honey Shrimp recipe offers a perfect balance of sweet and fiery flavors, making it an incredible dish for seafood lovers. Quickly cooked in a skillet, the shrimp are tossed in a tangy sauce made from Sriracha, honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger, then garnished with fresh green onions and sesame seeds for an extra burst of flavor and texture. Ideal for a quick weeknight dinner or as a tasty appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Marinade

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Garnishes (Optional)

  • Chopped green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp and sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the Sriracha sauce, honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and lime juice. Stir well to create the spicy-sweet marinade. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the bowl and toss to coat thoroughly. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  2. Heat the skillet: Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Allow the oil to heat until shimmering but not smoking, which will help achieve a nice sear on the shrimp.
  3. Cook the shrimp: Drain the shrimp slightly from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and season lightly with salt and pepper. Add the shrimp to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2 minutes on one side until pink and slightly browned, then flip and cook an additional 1-2 minutes on the other side.
  4. Add the reserved sauce: Pour the remaining marinade into the skillet with the shrimp. Cook together for another 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the shrimp beautifully.
  5. Serve and garnish: Remove the shrimp from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for an added nutty flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Use fresh or frozen shrimp; if using frozen, thaw completely before cooking.
  • Adjust the amount of Sriracha to control the spiciness level.
  • Serve over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
  • For a gluten-free option, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Make sure not to overcook the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
