Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs if preferred)
Sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Seasoning
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Olive oil or additional butter for cooking
Instructions
- Prep the Chicken: Season the chicken breasts evenly on both sides with salt and black pepper. If you opt for chicken thighs, leaving the skin on will enhance flavor and texture.
- Cook the Chicken: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a small amount of olive oil or butter to coat the pan. Once hot, place the chicken in the skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Remove chicken from the pan and set aside.
- Make the Honey Butter Sauce: Lower the heat to medium and add unsalted butter to the same skillet. Allow it to melt completely. Stir in the honey and garlic powder, letting the sauce simmer gently for 1 to 2 minutes until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Coat the Chicken: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and spoon the honey butter sauce over each piece. Simmer for another 1 to 2 minutes so the chicken absorbs the flavors and the sauce thickens further.
- Serve: Remove from heat and serve immediately, drizzling any remaining sauce from the pan over the chicken for added flavor.
Notes
- For a spicy twist, add red pepper flakes or sriracha to the honey butter sauce.
- To achieve extra crispy chicken, sear in the skillet then finish in a 375°F oven for 10-15 minutes depending on thickness.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Pairs beautifully with rice, mashed potatoes, steamed corn, or roasted vegetables like carrots and Brussels sprouts.
